For the first time since 2011, the Ford F-150 has its sidekick back. The long-awaited return of the 2019 Ford Ranger has potential truck buyers very excited. While its big brother the F-150 has been the best selling truck in the United States for the past 42 years, Ford believes there is a market for those that want the utility of a pickup but in a bit smaller version.

Trim Levels
Ford reintroduces the Ranger with three distinct trim levels. These models include the XL, XLT, and LARIAT. All versions of the Ranger have seating for five passengers. Each one comes as a 4X2 with four-wheel drive being an available upgrade for all trim levels. They all also have an available Chrome Appearance Package that offers a variety of premium features depending on the trim level.
On the Ranger XL, those wanting to add a bit of flair to their new truck can upgrade to the STX Appearance Package. Included in this option group are 17-inch silver-painted aluminum wheels, carbon black bumpers, fog lamps, and premium-cloth four-way ebony black seats.
An available upgrade to the XLT and LARIAT models is the Sport Appearance Package. This package includes a black grille with magnetic color accents, 17-inch or 18-inch aluminum wheels, and magnetic color bumper and wheel lip moldings.

Engine / Transmission
The Ranger comes equipped with a 2.3-liter turbocharged engine. The EcoBoost engine produces 270 horsepower and a class leading 310 pound-feet of torque. Accompanying its turbocharged engine is a 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission with Tow/Haul mode. Together this powertrain helps make the Ford Ranger a class leader in fuel efficiency for mid-size trucks in the United States.
-
Towing
When it comes to towing, the Ranger offers best-in-class payload and towing capabilities for any gas-powered midsize pickup. The Ranger has a payload capacity of 1,860 pounds and is rated to tow up to 7,500 pounds.

Off-Road
While many may be attracted to the midsize Ford Ranger as an everyday vehicle, those looking for and seeking off-road adventure can find it in this truck as well. For those looking to spend time off-road, consider a Ranger equipped with the FX4 Off-Road Package. This option group includes the Terrain Management System and Trail Control. The Terrain Management System offers four drive modes including Normal, Grass, Mud/Ruts, and Sand. Additionally, Trail Control manages acceleration and braking at individual wheels while maintaining a constant speed.

Co-Pilot 360
The Ford Co-Pilot 360 driver assist technologies come standard on both the XLT and LARIAT models and are available on the XL. Features include the Ford Co-Pilot and Blind Spot Information System, Lane Keeping System, Pre-Collision Assist with automatic emergency braking, auto high-beam headlamps, and rear-view camera.
