Not only does the 2018 Explorer have an updated appearance, but it also features new and advanced technology. The new technology emphasizes both safety and the pleasure and comfort of the driver and passengers. If you’re interested in the 2018 Ford Explorer, here is some information about what’s new on this vehicle.

New and Improved Technology

One of the most obvious changes between the 2017 and the 2018 model year is the new and improved technology. The 2018 Ford Explorer will feature a 4G-embedded modem along with a Wi-Fi hotspot. This feature provides support for up to 10 devices.

The 4G-embedded modem and Wi-Fi hotspot will allow drivers and passengers to enjoy fast and convenient access to the Internet just about anywhere they go. With this new feature, chances are you won’t have to worry about your children complaining of boredom during long drives. Ford Motor Co. will likely charge drivers a subscription fee for access to data. However, Ford Motor Co. has not released any details about the subscription fee yet.

Another new technology feature is the SYNC Connect, which allows drivers to control their SUV with their smartphone. Thanks to SYNC Connect, drivers can use their smartphone to lock, find, and start their vehicle.

Updated Explorer Exterior

Another change with the 2018 Ford Explorer is the new exterior colors. The four new exterior colors are “Blue Metallic,” “Burgundy Velvet Tinted Clearcoat,” “Cinnamon Glaze,” and “Platinum Dune Tricoat,” which is a tan color. Thanks to these four new attractive colors, you shouldn’t have any trouble selecting an exterior color for your new 2018 Explorer that perfectly suits your tastes and preferences.

Five new wheel designs are yet another update to the 2018 Explorer’s appearance. Some other modest changes to this vehicle include redesigned fog lamps and a new grille.

New Safety Feature Package

Ford Motor Co. bundled a few safety features into the new Safe and Smart package. This allows drivers to get all of these active-safety features as a single option. Some of the active-safety features Ford Motor Co. bundled into the package include blind-spot warning, adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, lane-keeping assist, rain-sensing wipers, and automatic high-beams.

Before, Ford Motor Co. spread out these active-safety features across the lineup for the Explorer. Oftentimes, drivers had to buy pricey option packages to enjoy these features. Ford Motor Co. has not released details about the price of the new Safe and Smart package. However, Ford will offer this package on the Sport, Limited, and XLT trim levels. Drivers that have a legitimate interest in the Platinum model will be happy to know that the Safe and Smart package is standard on this trim level.

Undoubtedly, the new features Ford has introduced to the 2018 Ford Explorer have pleased many drivers, particularly the fans of the Explorer model. The 2018 Ford Explorer is certainly an impressive and worthy addition to this incredibly popular Ford SUV model.
