Gwinnett Historic Courthouse in GeorgiaLooking to catch up with all the latest news, events, and stories, in Lawrenceville? There are two main local publications you can read both online or in print. Find out more about the Gwinnett Daily Post and the Gwinnett Citizen below.

1. The Gwinnett Daily Post

The Gwinnett Daily Post is a community newspaper serving Gwinnett County, Georgia region since 1970 when it was called the Lawrence Home Weekly. The current printing schedule of the Gwinnett Daily Post is Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. Currently owned by Southern Community Newspapers Inc., they have an online presence that keeps the community up to date with all of the breaking news in the area.

The newspaper also acts as the county’s legal organ with events highlighted in the paper including obituaries, anniversaries, births, college notes, engagements, military notes, and weddings.

There is the usual information in the publication, including local news, sports, lifestyles, entertainment, classifieds, jobs, real estate, weather, and everyone’s favorite, coupons.

If you would like to contribute a classified ad, event, news tips, letter to the editor, or any other material that’s published often you can find the options in the footer of the Gwinnett Daily Post website.

In a shift to keep up with the evolution of video content, there are several videos uploaded weekly to the Gwinnett Daily Post YouTube channel.

If you’d rather not have the physical paper delivered, you can access the e-Editions online.

2. Gwinnett Citizen

Established in 1988, the Gwinnett Citizen is a publication in both print and online focused on the Gwinnett County, GA, community. The paper has helped connect the small businesses doing great things to the community, as well as being an outlet for the community to be heard.

They have a monthly print circulation of 60,000 that covers all of the major Gwinnett County news, while their online publication keeps the local community up to date daily. You can access e-Editions online too.

Something unique about their online publication is their headers which are:

  • Local News
  • Living
  • Business Leaders
  • Health and Wellness
  • Announcements
  • Opinions
  • Events

This is an example to show they’re hyper-focused on the local community with the business leader sections devoted to columns by four influential figures, Roger Green, James Miskell, David Walker, and Jennifer Adams. They are all living in the community so can have an expert opinion on their specific topics.

Online news has an image of portraying everything bad going on, but the Gwinnett Citizen is always working to show people there are good things. For example, they’ll let the community know about animal adoption day and how they can save money this month at local stores.

With so many local publications moving their priorities online, many local newspaper publications are struggling to sustain profitability as advertisers shift their attention to online advertising too. There is still a space for physical newspapers though, the feeling can’t be replaced as you flick through the paper as part of your regular routine.
