This Lawrenceville museum is full of history and artifacts. The building itself is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and has a huge collection of the artifacts of Gwinnett County. It used to serve as the  Lawrenceville Female Seminary and was restored by local citizens in 1971 with the help of a local architect, Gloria Kidd. The second floor houses the museum. The community-funded “hub of discovery” also features contemporary local artists’ work, and a Kids’ Zone where children can create their own puppet show. Gwinnett Environmental & Heritage Center in Buford, Georgia

Less than eight miles from Lawrenceville, you will find the Gwinnett Environmental & Heritage Center in Buford. There are many regular nature-based exhibits, including WaterWise, where you can sign up for a challenge to save water when you return home. The Blue Planet exhibit offers an interactive presentation of the different features of water on Earth, including rain, a topographical map, and lighting effects. Smaller kids can discover water, using interactive H2O stations where they can follow the route of water from rain through reservoirs to the water treatment system. The exhibitions are suitable for all ages and perfect for a rainy day.

Southeastern Railway Museum, Suwanee

Only a few miles from Lawrenceville, this museum features locomotives, railroad memorabilia, and a miniature train track for little kids.
